		<description>It all depends on what outputs you have on your laptop. Obviously the video isn&#039;t the issue. You need a surround sound capable audio out ... and most laptops don&#039;t have them.

You can certainly run a stereo line (1/8 mini-stereo plug to RCA stereo) to an aux input on your receiver (and therefore power the speakers) but it won&#039;t give you more than pseudo-surround (matrix surround via, for example, ProLogic processing in the receiver).

You really need a digital coax, optical or HDMI output to connect to an input on the receiver ... but those are rare on laptops.
